Clematis Vines
Clematis vines are hardy, flowering perennial plants, available in a variety of colors and styles. There are over 250 different species of clematis vines. Clematis vines are known to wrap the stem of leaves around an object for support and to climb.

There are different shapes to the bloom of clematis vines, and they vary by species. There are clematis vines with flowers shaped like a bell. Clematis vines can also have random clusters of small white flowers, or flat, broad flowers.

Clematis vines, when cared for properly, can live twenty years or more. Proper care of clematis vines includes a location with at least six hours of full sun per day. Some varieties require partial shade to keep flowers from fading, but most do need full sun to grow. The soil should be rich, drain well and have a neutral pH level.

The most common disease known to affect clematis vines is wilt. This will weaken the stems and produce black foliage. Proper and quick removal of all affected areas will usually ensure the survival of clematis vines.
