Trumpet Vine
The trumpet vine, native to southeast America, will grow in most areas of the country and has no problem with extreme temperature changes. The trumpet vine is one of the few garden plants that actually bloom all summer long.

The flowers of the trumpet vine are a bright orange to red hue and attract hummingbirds. The vine can survive in areas as cold as zone 4, but will wait until the warmer part of the year to come out of hibernation and bloom again.

Trumpet vines are aggressive and fast growing. When used on walls, a trumpet vine can reach up to 40 feet. The trumpet vine does require a fair amount of exposure to sunlight in order to grow and bloom effectively.

Annual pruning also aids in the growth of a trumpet vine. At the end of the blooming season, the trumpet vine will have several sticks sticking out towards the sun. These need to simply be cut and the vine will flourish again the following year.
